The event will see cyclists of all ages and sexes from all over the world joining in. This year’s competition is on the theme “Ride for All”. Cyclists can choose to race solo, as a team, or in the Off-road and other categories that are subject to a timing system. It’s possible to take part in the Fun Ride category without a timing system. In the past year Daikin has sponsored sporting events continuously in accordance with the company’s policy of promoting health and fitness among Thais. This year’s race is a joint activity that Daikin is proud to continue sponsorship for and we take great pride in being part of the success of last year’s edition. I believe that this year’s competition will help raise the profile of the Pattaya race to match up to international standards and to finally emerge as a new cycling destination for cyclists from all over the world that is able to offer an impressive cycling experience.”
This year’s cycling race takes place over two days on November 24 and 25 and has seven categories to satisfy cyclists’ different lifestyle needs, with the goal of promoting health and unity among communities. This year’s event sees the introduction of “Offroad Challenge” as a new addition to the race categories to boost the race’s excitement levels.
The race distances range from 12 to 62 kilometers and the route runs through the streets around the Siam Country Club Pattaya, covering parts of Pattaya’s stunning scenery. Being organized and managed by internationally renowned professional cycling event organizers IMG, the Bangkok Bank CycleFest 2018 looks set to become an international cycling phenomenon. The highlight will be the appearance of the Belgian former road bicycle racer Tom Boonen who will be participating in the competition. Boonen competed as a professional for the U.S. Postal Service and Quick-Step Floors teams. He won winning 6 stages of the Tour de France.
Cyclists joining the Fun Ride category will help raise funds for a charity as the proceeds from the registration fees will go to the Father Ray Foundation. The foundation provides care to orphans, victims of child abuse and disadvantaged children and students with disabilities numbering 850. Interested members of the public are invited to contribute.
